Fortifying the Sky: AirGuard's Next-Gen Upgrades Strengthen Airspace Security

As the threat of malicious drone activity continues to grow, the AirGuard software by AirSight remains at the forefront of airspace management and drone detection technology. Today, we're excited to unveil the latest enhancements that take AirGuard's capabilities to new heights, empowering organizations to respond effectively to evolving drone-based threats.

Expanded RF Detection Capabilities

One of the most significant upgrades to AirGuard is the ability to now detect remote ID drones transmitting on the 5.8 GHz RF band, in addition to the standard 2.4 GHz band. This enhancement was made possible by upgrading the older sensor technology in the AirGuard system.

For example, a rogue drone, equipped with a 5.8 GHz transmitter, approaches a critical infrastructure facility. In the past, such a drone might have slipped through the security net undetected. But with AirGuard's expanded RF detection capabilities, the system can now identify and track this threat in real-time, providing security personnel with the information they need to take immediate action.

Mitigating Single-Vendor Risk

To further bolster the resilience of the AirGuard platform, we have integrated a new RF sensor from Bluvec. It’s like having both motion detectors and security cameras. The incorporation of the RF sensor, we create a robust, multi-layered defense against drone threats. If one sensor is temporarily unavailable, the other can continue to monitor the airspace, ensuring your security remains intact.

Drone as First Responder

We are currently conducting a "Drone as First Responder" (DFR) use case trial with the North Carolina police department. This innovative application explores how drones integrated with the AirGuard system can be utilized as first-response assets, enhancing the speed and effectiveness of emergency interventions.

For instance, a suspicious drone is detected near a hospital. With the DFR capabilities, the AirGuard system can automatically dispatch a drone to investigate the situation, providing visual intelligence and assisting first responders in assessing the threat and coordinating an appropriate response. This seamless integration of drone technology can dramatically improve incident response times and decision-making capabilities.

Staying Ahead of the Curve

These latest updates to the AirGuard platform underscore AirSight's commitment to driving innovation in the airspace security domain. By continually enhancing the system's capabilities, we aim to empower our clients with the most advanced tools to safeguard their critical assets and maintain situational awareness in the ever-evolving drone landscape. As the threat landscape evolves, AirGuard will continue to adapt and deliver the solutions necessary to stay one step ahead.
