Drone causes power outage at a Border Patrol checkpoint In south Texas

An area north of Laredo, Texas experienced a power outage after a drone slammed into a power line.

The incident happened on the morning of December 12, 2017, near the Border Patrol checkpoint on I-35, 29 miles north of the Mexico/Texas border.

According to reports, an unidentified person lost control of the drone they were flying, causing it to crash into a power line.

The power outage forced Border Patrol to shut down the checkpoint until they could restore power. Traffic had to be re-routed as well.

Authorities did question the drone operator and the U.S. Border Patrol is continuing an investigation on this incident.
