A California couple is suing Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas after 4th of July drone light show ends with an eye injury. Monika and Joseph Nourmand said they were attending an Independence Day celebration at Caesars on June 30, 2018 when a drone fell and hit Monika Noumand in the face during a drone light show near the hotel pool.
In an interview by ABC station KABC in Los Angeles, the Monika said, "All of a sudden, something just hit me in the face." "The next thing I know there's blood pouring out of her eye," Joseph Nourmand recalled.
Besides the two gashes that required stitches above and below her eye, Monika said she suffered permanent eye damage. Monika now suffers from blurry vision and is receiving treatment from an ophthalmologist.
The Nourmands are not only suing Caesars Palace, but also the Great Lakes Drone Company and the drone operator. The Great Lakes Drone Company provided the drone light show at Caesars Palace. The couple is alleging they were negligent for failing to comply with federal rules and regulations, as well as safety standards.
Both the drone company and the drone operator declined to comment on the impending litigations. Court documents reveal both denied the allegations against them and said they complied with FAA regulations.
