AirSight Drone Detection Solution update v3.18

AirGuard V3.18 Release: Automated Visual Tracking with Axis PTZ Cameras for Basic Tier (Remote ID)

AirSight is pleased to announce the release of AirGuard V3.18. This update introduces a significant enhancement to our Remote ID detection capabilities by integrating Remote ID (RID) V1 Sensor detections with Axis PTZ Cameras to automate the visual tracking and confirmation of drone threats.

This new feature is designed to provide operators with faster visual confirmation and higher-quality evidence by linking electronic detections directly to camera actions without the need for manual control.

Feature Overview: The RID V1 to PTZ Integration

The workflow for this new feature is designed for speed and reliability, proceeding from detection to evidence capture automatically.

  1. Detection: The process begins when an AirGuard RID V1 Sensor detects a drone's signal. RID V1 sensors can often detect drones at longer ranges than radar, which enables earlier camera cueing.
  2. Cueing and Tracking: The detection data is sent to the AI Server, which automatically directs a paired Axis PTZ Camera to the drone's coordinates for continuous tracking.
  3. Evidence Capture: During the tracking process, the camera captures photos of the drone. These images are saved directly to the flight record, creating a detailed report that links the photographic evidence to the corresponding RID data, including the drone ID, time, and location.

This demo video shows the Layer1 Enhanced feature automatically detecting a drone and directing the PTZ camera to track it and capture images.

Key Capabilities and Benefits

This update provides several key benefits for airspace security operations:

  • Faster Time-to-Visual: Automating the camera response provides quicker visual confirmation of detected drones, which helps to reduce false alarms.
  • Dual-Sensor Cueing: The system supports cueing from both radar and RID V1 sensors to the same PTZ camera, which can improve the probability of a successful visual lock on a target.
  • Improved Evidentiary Records: Photos are automatically linked to RID data, strengthening the evidentiary record for investigations and enforcement.
  • Efficient Use of Existing Hardware: Customers can optionally reuse Axis PTZ Cameras that are already deployed for radar detection, maximizing the return on investment.

Updates to the AirGuard Interface

The AirGuard user interface has been updated to support this new functionality:

  • LIVE and RECORDS Views: A new camera icon indicates the status of photo capture. A solid icon confirms that photos were captured for a flight, while a hollow icon indicates that a camera was paired but no photos were taken.
  • Filtering and Search: In the RECORDS view, users can now filter flight records by ‘Layer 1 Sensor’ to locate these events and can also search for historical flights by DroneID/RID.

The features included in the AirGuard V3.18 release are part of our ongoing commitment to improving the reliability and effectiveness of drone detection for our users.
