AirSight’s ACA Demo Day: How We’re Helping Organizations Take Back Their Airspace

Drones have become a serious security challenge across multiple industries—from prisons and stadiums to critical infrastructure and government facilities. Whether they are being used to smuggle contraband, conduct unauthorized surveillance, or disrupt operations, drones pose a growing risk that traditional security measures simply aren’t equipped to handle.

At ACA Demo Day, AirSight showcased how our multi-layered drone detection system provides real-time tracking, pilot identification, and actionable intelligence—empowering security teams to take control of their airspace before a drone incident escalates.

If you missed the live demo, here’s what you need to know.

Why You Need Airspace Security Now More Than Ever

A decade ago, flying a drone required skill. Today, anyone can buy a drone, press a few buttons, and send it on an automated flight path—straight to a prison yard. These drones aren’t just hobbyist toys; they’re being used by criminal networks to deliver contraband, bypassing traditional perimeter security.

At ACA, AirSight CEO Robert Tabara walked attendees through the real challenges organizations are facing, especially the correctional facilities and prisons:

🚨 Drones operate quietly and quickly, making it nearly impossible for security teams to spot them in time.
🚨 Many detection systems flood teams with false alarms, making it hard to focus on real threats.
🚨 Tracking the drone is only half the battle—you need to locate the pilot to stop future threats.

This is exactly where AirSight’s AirGuard platform steps in.

How AirSight Detects Drones & Tracks Pilots in Real-Time

During our outdoor demo, we showed attendees how our three-layer detection system works in action:

🔹 Layer 1: Remote ID & RF Detection → Identifies drones that broadcast Remote ID and picks up signals between the drone and its pilot.
🔹 Layer 2: Direction-Finding Sensors → Locates the pilot’s position so law enforcement can respond quickly.
🔹 Layer 3: Radar & AI-Powered Camera Tracking → Detects all drones, even those not broadcasting Remote ID, and visually confirms the threat.

One of the most eye-opening moments in the demo was when we tracked a drone at 700+ meters away using radar and AI-driven cameras—showing just how far ahead of the threat prisons need to be.

Technology Alone Isn’t Enough—That’s Why We Have 24/7 Live Monitoring

Another key takeaway from the event? Automation can only take you so far.

Many detection systems flood security teams with constant alerts, even for non-threatening drones like those flown by nearby hobbyists. This is why AirSight offers 24/7 live human monitoring—so every detection is verified before an alert is sent, ensuring security teams focus only on real threats.

As Robert said during the demo: "No matter what system you buy, 65% of drone defense is technology—the other 35% is keeping humans in the loop."
