Intel is making headlines again with its shooting star drones. This time they have made the cover of Time Magazine. The cover for the latest Time issue is composed of 958 Intel shooting-star drones, and a drone took the photo.

Intel has dazzled us with their spectacular drone light shows during Super Bowl halftime shows, CES in Las Vegas, and the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. For the most recent issue of Time, the magazine teamed up with Intel to make a historic cover. The cover height spanned about 330 feet (100 meters) and required 958 drones flying in close formation. Intel animation lead Tim Heath said, "The major challenge of this particular animation is the height at which we have to fly and getting the resolution we want in the Time logo."

The magazine’s most recent issue highlights “The Drone Age,” which features a special report on unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones. Their cover story focuses on how drones are here to stay by showcasing drones used for good and their impacts on society and government.

Check out the video below for behind the scenes footage of making the cover. They discuss the challenges and coordination efforts of their process.
