The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources are investigating a report that a drone struck a Kauai tour helicopter.

According to the report, a collision between the drone and tour helicopter happened last Friday around 1:45 pm when the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter flew over the Napali Coast State Wilderness Park near Nualolo Kai.

“There were no reported injuries to the pilot or passengers,” said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor in an e-mailed statement. “The pilot reported scratches on the aircraft belly but no significant damage.”

Currently, there are no known details about the drone pilot's identity. Representatives at Blue Hawaiian Helicopters have yet to comment on the collision.

While there are no specific Drone Laws in Hawaii, the Hawaii State parks prohibit “the use, launching or landing of drones or other types of aircraft.”
